Our Hives
Greener Village keeps bees in our food bank gardens right here in Fredericton. Right now we’re tending five hives, checked weekly through the spring and summer, and harvested by hand each year.
It’s slow, careful work. But it’s work that pays off in more ways than one.

Why We Keep Bees
Bees aren’t just honey-makers. Along with native bees and other pollinators, they’re part of the reason our gardens produce food at all. The bees from our hives improve pollination for our own gardens, helping stock our grocery boxes, as well as the crop fields within a 3 km radius. No pollinators, no produce.
Keeping bees is one small piece of a much bigger picture at Greener Village: growing food, sharing food, and making sure our neighbours have enough of it.
Where Your Purchase Goes
Every jar of Greener Village honey sold supports our programs directly — from the food bank, to our Learning Kitchen, to the community gardens that grow alongside our hives. 100% of proceeds go directly back into our programs and support food purchasing.
